4 Corners principal consultant Rachel Head has acted as associate HR director for a dynamic publishing company as it has grown from small beginnings to employ more than 100 people in the UK.
Initially, Rachel worked with the company’s top team to help them develop their leadership capabilities and provided one-to-one coaching for the managing director. From here, she began advising on broader people issues such as recruitment, reward and performance management.
Recruiting for growth
Once in place as associate HR director, Rachel led the development of a new employer brand and a competency framework that enabled the recruitment of the high-calibre people needed to deliver the projects in the company’s rapidly growing order book.
She also devised and launched a new benefits package, put in place a succession planning model and designed and delivered a range of training interventions.
In less than three years, Rachel has helped the company build a talented, skilled and motivated workforce. She has overseen a reduction in staff turnover from 45 per cent to 14 per cent and a cut in absence rates to just 0.5 per cent.
